Hello,
I've recently had a big issue with my work laptop and have been issued with a new one.
IT support are able to extract files from it, and i'd really like to get the data sources i'd (rather painfully) managed to setup on the old machine.
Does anyone know how/where these details are stored?
I'm hoping for some sort of config file(s) that can just be copied across...
Thanks
Alex
Hi @alexei7 ,
How about the result after you follow the suggestions mentioned in my original post?Could you please provide more details about it If it doesn't meet your requirement?
Best regards,
Hi,
We were able to extract the User.zip file from the old laptop.
I did copy it to the same path on the new laptop.
However, I would have expected a pre-existing user.zip file to overwrite - this did not exist.
Once the file was copied across I opened Power BI but could not see my old data sources as connections.
I tried re-booting and re-opening Power BI but got the same result.
I think I will have to manually add the connections again.
Alex
Hi @alexei7 ,
Based on my test, it is stored in "C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\User.zip" for the standard version of Power BI Desktop and "C:\Users\<User Name>\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App\User.zip" for the Windows Store version of Power BI Desktop.
Best regards,
