Conditional formatting in a matrix with (+/-) button on

Hello everyone,

I am facing a hard problem trying to apply conditional formatting in a matrix that have the '+/-' button active.
As you can see in the image, when I am not drilling throught the conditional formatting works, althought when I click in '+' it don't.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The condittional formatting on the table visual does not work on the total line, meaning that since DAX is based in context when you have the line values closed and all of your data is only the subtotals the context is the value in each row, since the row context enter in place.

When you expand a group you add a new level to the row context and the subtotal start to act as a total so the condittional formatting stops working on the subtotals level and not on the values.

Check print below:

This is a feature of the table but you can vote the idea on the blog post.

I cannot replicate issue you show below, how do you have the values setup and the condittional formatting? Are you using measures?

Can you share a sample file?

I did not see the correct answer, but under Cell elements in conditional formatting you can select drop down under "Apply to" and hit Values and totals.

Hi @fvalento2023 ,

This can be active however when you open one of the levels the condittional formatting gets disable at the top level of the matrix:

In you screen shots you have values only selected, which is why that is the case.

Select Values and totals, should keep the top level highlighted.

@fvalento2023 ,

Yes you are correct. Sorry for the missleading information.

How did you managed to insert conditional formatting when the + botton is not active?

in my case, formatting does not work when I am not drilling...

Thank you for your help.
