Conditional format of whole row of matric based on text value 2024

Hello,

is there a way to colour a specific row of a matrix? Assuming i have the following table and want to create the matrix below it. How can i make the row for 'Egg' a different colour or stand out in any way. I can't see any recent solution for this. Thanks!

Hi @Sammy22

Unfortunately, conditional formatting is only available for what are considered "values" and not categories.

This is why in a flat table, you can apply conditional formatting to any column because each column is a value in itself.

However, in a matrix, what you have under rows/columns are categories.

It's also important to note that from a reader's perspective, the more color elements there are in a graph, the more cognitive load is placed on the brain.

Color is a very powerful attribute, and we respond to it even before we process shape. Therefore, when you want to signal to the reader's brain to prioritize certain information by highlighting it with color, it's much more effective to do so on the specific problematic metric rather than the entire row.

The pbix with my example is attached

I'm afraid you can only conditional format the values and not the rows in the Matrix.. However if you use the table visual you will be able to do this.
