As I see it - this is NOT possible atm - as it SHOULD be with basic formatting tools.
I think that this need is really basic business need in any BI scenario: to have multiple measure and
to be able to set coloring so that under zero the colors are "redish" and above zero "greenish".
But is there anyone who has managed to do any kind of working solution for this?
I tested with variables/switches but - lost my nerves in a minute while thinking that there was a poll for this
and it was in completed status...wapos!
Scenario:
X Axis: Products
Values: Monthly (dark colors) and YTD measures (light colors)
Y Axis: Zero as a limit for red / green
Normally you would use one measure and let the visual do the grouping, either via axis or legend. But as you say this only gives you one set of conditional formatting rules.
What I occasionally do (and I am not proud of it) is to precompute measures for individual dimension values.
Let's say you have these project statuses
Proposed
Open
Delayed
Closed
And the goal is to visualize the number of projects in each status by department
Normally you would use these in the legend (for example). But you could also have separate measures
#Proposed
#Open
#Delayed
#Closed
If you add all four measures to your visual then you can specify four different sets of conditional formatting.
This only makes sense for some visuals, and sometimes you need to modify the visual heavily (on the matrix for example you may need to show values by rows). But maybe it's worth considering, despite the additional effort.
