Conditional Formatting To Top Row Only

I have a table with a few different columns in it. Some of the columns are numeric while others are text based. Is it possible to change the formatting of only the numeric columns in the top-most row...

srpeters what defines the first row? Can you share an example?

Yes here is an example of what I want to accomplish:

 

Notice how only the top row of values and the totaled row has the "$". Is this formatting possible?
