Hellow Power BI community,
I currently have a direct link from PeopleSoft to my Power BI. How can I concatenate two columns using the measurement functionality?
Regards,
Gus Dahu
Solved! Go to Solution.
To get the measure as requested, you may use SELECTEDVALUE Function:
Measure := CONCATENATE ( SELECTEDVALUE ( 'Table'[Column1] ), SELECTEDVALUE ( 'Table'[Column2] ) )

Shantanu0007,
I aprpeciate your quick response to my question. Unfortunately your solution did not work. Do you have any other alternatives?

Gus Dahu
Forgive the possible patronising question, but did you substitute [column1] and [column2] for the actual names of your own columns in the supplied suggestion:
newcolumn = [column1]&[column2]
If you did, perhaps you could supply a screenshot of what happens when you try it? I'm wondering if it could be that one of the columns needs to be a different data type to make the concatenation work.
Hi Gazzer,
I did input the actual names into the measurement formula. The measurement was created, however when I attempt to add the measurement as a column in the table, I receive a rejection from the visual itself telling me that the information cannot be displayed.

Hi Shantanu00007,
Basically I have a "PO_ID" column and a "Business_Unit_PO" column. I would like to concatenate the two to create a unique identifier to use in my analysis. I believe both columns are in text format although I am not 100% sure as I'm using the direct query feature from PeopleSoft which in turn disables a lot of Power BIs functionalities such as Edit Query.

Gus Dahu
Shantanu00007,
The New Column option is greyed out as my data is directly connected to PeopleSoft.

Gus Dahu
