Hi, I would love to add a column to this report, that is connected live to a dataset. How can I enable the option to add a column?

Hey @Laila92 ,
you can only add a calculated column to a power bi dataset with the "DirectQuery for PBI datasets and AS" feature. This feature is still in preview, but you can use it already. In order to use it, you have to activate it in the Preview features settings:
Be aware that currently this only works with a Power BI dataset and Azure Analysis Services data set.
@selimovd
I find that lots of people in this community are saying things like "you can only add a calculated column to a power bi dataset with the DirectQuery for PBI datasets and AS feature".
In the general sense, adding calculated columns are not supported in DirectQuery for PBI datasets.
When refreshing these datasets in the service, we get an error:
Refresh is not supported for datasets with a calculated table or calculated column that depends on a table which references Analysis Services using DirectQuery
Hi @Laila92
When we use live connection we cant add columns/tables, we can only able to create a measures. You need to add required column to the datasource and use it in your report.
Thanks.

Samarth
