Hi People,
As soon as I try to edit a phrase or write a phrase or touch the formula bar what so ever, I get this error;
Would anyone be able to assisst please?

I wonder which database and version you are using. Please make sure the data source with DirectQuery is supported in Power BI Desktop. You may refer the following link about the similar issue. Hope it helps.

If this error just happens on Power BI Desktop,
First check if your server and database name is correct. Also check if your server has access to that database.
If your data source is SQL Server database, use SSMS to connect to the same server and database, check if the connection works.
Run Power BI Desktop as Administrator and turn off any virus anti app.

Seems like you are not able to connect database. Please go to data transformation/edit sources -> Edit connection/Sources and check connection details.
It may be VPN or IP whitelist issue
