Clustered Column Chart Help

Hi All,

I am stuck on a request and hoping someone can help me find a solution, I have searched online without any luck.

 

I am using a clustered column chart to show actual vs budget by month (example below).

The page the chart sits in, contains a month slicer, which in order to show values for future budget months I have set not to interact with this slicer.

 

I have now had a request to only show values for actuals equal to or before the slicer value selected.  Therefore if someone selected February then the March actual bar would disappear but all months of budget can remain.

 

Is there anyway of doing such a thing?  If I make the month slicer interact with the visual, it would filter to only show the selected month.

    Badger43 , Create an independent date table and use that in slicer

     


    new measure =
    var _max = maxx(allselected(Date1),Date1[Date])
    return
    calculate( [Actual], filter('Table', 'Table'[Date] 'Table'[Date] <=_max))

     

    if you have joined date table

     


    new measure =
    var _max = maxx(allselected(Date1),Date1[Date])
    return
    calculate( [Actual], filter('Date', 'Date'[Date] 'Date'[Date] <=_max))

     

     

    Same way you can measure for target too

      Thanks for your help.  I have a joined date table and this is also used to filter various other views.

       

      If I try and use your second solution would I filter the clustered chart by the month or not?  Thanks.
