Chiclet slicer missing format options after format pane upgrade

I've used the chiclet slicer before and it's useful.  However, the new format pane doesn't seem to work well with the Chiclet Slicer (which is from Microsoft).  Many of the formatting options are gone.  For example, you can no longer configure how many chiclets to put in a row, or whether to do them vertically or horizontally.  There's no way to define a single or multi select option.  It seems that most of the functional options are gone and the only thing left are cosmetic things like font and color.
