I am working on a report where there is a need for a 'Total Sales Line chart'. The chart should be plotted in such a way that it should show the sales of each quarter of the years 2021, 2022, 2023 (in that order). I add my [Total Sales] measure to the Y-Axis. The issue arises when I add my 'calendar' date hierarchy to the X-Axis. Power BI has automatically created a hiearachy, and that is the only field I can add to my chart from my 'calendar' table. The X-axis shows values beginning from January and ending at December. There is no separation for the years. It is as if all the years have been grouped together. The January marker shows the sum of all of the sales made in the month of January for all of the years. I am unable to stop this from happening. How do I resolve this issue? Please help.

You can disable the auto-time intelligence for just that visual by clicking on the date field in the well and selecting the field value name in the dropdown, or turn it off for the report in report settings, or disable it for all reports. Most of us just turn it off entirely I think. 🙂
