Hi,
I have a chart where I want to assign colors to the bars based on the bar label. I know I can do this manually through the 'Format' pane, but is there a way to automate this?
Similar to the chart below, if I have chart with Apple on the x axis, I always want that bar to be red (etc). I've only found the manual solution, so was just hoping someone might know a way to automate this...
Thanks!
Solved! Go to Solution.
You would need to create a table to map the colors out. Something like:
LabelColorMap = DATATABLE(
"Category", STRING,
"Color", STRING,
{
{"Apple", "#FF0000"}, // red
{"Banana", "#FFD700"}, // yellow
{"Grape", "#800080"}, // purple
{"Orange", "#FFA500"} // orange
}
)Then make a relationship to your category or do a lookupvalue
Apply Conditional Formatting:
1. Select your bar/column chart.
2. Go to Format pane > Data colors > click fx.
3. In the conditional formatting dialog: Format by: Field value Based on field: Choose your BarColor measure
