Change the name of legend item (i.e. data series)

I have a line chart with Time on x, Value on y, Trial_label on Legend.

Is there a way I could change legend representation (i.e. name) for each Trial. This is already possilbe for line color of each Trial_label but not the data series name itself.

One way would be to go to Power query editor and change it there (Replace values) but this is not wanted functionality.

Is there a solution I could create for an advanced user to change the values of Trial_labels? Even if this is only possible within Power Query, could these changes be set up in a way that is faster and more intuitive?

I saw MS linkedin posts about line charts. They are also talking about "Legend representation" that is on roadmap. Could this possible mean, that the functionality to change legend names would be included?

Hi @davidz106 -Microsoft roadmap and potential upcoming features, the ability to change legend names directly in the visualization is indeed a highly requested feature. Microsoft often shares upcoming features in their Power BI roadmap and LinkedIn posts. The mention of "Legend representation" in their posts suggests that this feature might be introduced in the future.

For the most current and accurate information, you can check the Power BI release plans or follow official updates on Microsoft's LinkedIn page and Power BI blogs.

Ideas

If you have a new idea for functionality or how something should work, you can certainly start a thread on the community to solicit feedback on your idea, but you should also post the idea in the ideas section of the website and solicit others to vote on your idea. The development teams use the Ideas area of the communities to build their development pipeline and a significant amount of weight is placed on Ideas that have lots of votes versus those that do not. The ideas areas of the communities are here:

Hope it helps
