Change table source - existing PBI desktop
Hi Experts,
I am new and struggling user of PBI, and I am very much interested to learn it.
I have an existing report whihc works fine, that one has the full year 2017 data. There is a new table which has 2018, and these 2 needs to be combined. My working pbi report is connected to 2018 table, & I successfully appended both:
- 2018 (as current) appended to 2017 = error (have tried multiple times)
- 2017 (as current) appended to 2018 = successful!
So, i settled with 2017 as current, appended to 2018. Now, my ultimate problem is, i want to change my report to be connected to 2017 since this one has the complete data, and i spent the entire afternoon searching for a solution. How to do this?
thank you so much.
Hi smoupre, That's my error. I am 100% sure that data parameters are the same , otherwise, i will not be able to append 2018 to current 2017 table.
Thanks.
@smoupre wrote:Hmm, would be interested as to why the append is generating an error. I tried a couple of different things, but if you already have a report built and tied to the table, then you are probably going to have to recreate your visuals from the right table. Can you post your error because that would be a way better solution, to fix whatever is causing the append to fail.

Sachet_716,
As other post, please share the error message.
Also check if Union function works in your scenario. There is a similar thread for your reference.

Sachet_716,
Click view errors to expand error message.
In addition, how about you write DAX using Union function to append queries?
