Change Power bi focus mode background color
I also use a dark background with corporate images for all my reports. The whole background is an SVG file and forms part of a custom theme controlled with a JSON script. I've set the default background colour to the same colour as the background in my SVG file.
"background": [
{
"image": {
"name": "Dark",
"scaling": "Fit",
"url": "data:image/svg+xml;base64,xxx”
},
"transparency": 0,
"color": {
"solid": {
"color": "#272936"
}
I then set the backround on all visuals to be On with 0% transparency. This results in every page having my standard background with corporate logos etc (i.e. the page canvas), every visual background being the same colour as the canvas, and every focus mode page having the same background colour.
Hi, Thanks for your detailed answer. Can you point me in the direction of more details on editing the SVG file/JSON script of a specific PBI report generally?

I created my backrounds using PowerPoint and save as SVG files. These give me a higher image definition. I create customised icons as PNG files the same way, although they have to be converted to Base64 before they can be using in the JSON script. If you want to modify a theme using JSON then I suggest starting with a Power BI report where you may have already modified the theme, or just start with one of the default ones. Go to the View Menu and click on the Theme dropdown list. Select a preferred theme unless you want to use the current one and click on Save Current Theme. You can then edit it using a tool like Visual Studio.
