Change Gateway

My idea is to publish from Power BI Desktop a report with a test database and once it is published on the web I can change the gateway connection for another. The problem I have is that the new gateway doesn't have the same server as the published report and won't let me change it.

I do it that way because from my computer I don't have access to the final database I want. But on the web if I have access since on the other computer I have previously installed "On-Premises Data Gateway". I also haven't figured out how to get the data from Power BI Desktop using the gateway.

What can I do?

Thanks in advance!

In PowerBI desktop I have the session started with the same account as the gateway and I do not see how to connect to the data of the gateway.

    Hi, Syndicate_Admin

I think you should be a newbie because what you said is unprofessional, 'publish to web' and 'publish to service' are not the same concept, and there is no need to change gateway when changing other machine.

In your case, you can publish to service first, then install the gateway on the computer that can connect to the database, add the data source in the 'manage gateway', enter the correct credentials, and then connect the data source in the dataset. That's it.

Gateway is just a bridge, it does not have the function of connecting data. The data is stored in the service.
