Category Header in the New Card Visual

Hi Community,

I'm unable to remove or hide category header in new card visual. Other similar posts have suggestions like hiding or disabling category header which is not available to me. I have to resort to changing transparency or font as a last resort but really wish there is a better way

  • Hi SriSundar

There is currenlty no option to turn off category headers from the GUI.  You can instead set the font transparency to 100%

  • Yes, you’re absolutely right, in the New Card visual, the old trick of simply turning off Category Label doesn’t always behave the way the classic card used to. Microsoft redesigned this visual, and some formatting options moved or behave differently.

    Let’s fix this properly.

How to Remove / Hide Category Header in New Card Visual
Step 1: Check if You’re Using the New Card (not Classic Card)
    The new card has:

    • Multiple fields support
    • Reference labels
    • Better layout option

Method 1 (Recommended): Turn Off Category Label Properly

    1. Select the New Card visual
    2. Go to Format pane
    3. Expand Category
    4. Toggle Category label = Off

If you don’t see this option, continue below

Method 2: Remove the Field Name Instead
    Sometimes the header appears because:

    • The field name is automatically used as category
    • Or the measure name is displayed

    Fix:

    1. Go to Fields well
    2. Click the dropdown on the field inside the Card
    3. Rename for this visual
    4. Leave it blank or use a space " "

This removes the visible header without transparency tricks.

    In modern report design:

    • Use Text box titles instead of category labels
    • Keep cards clean
    • Control titles globally using themes

    This gives you pixel-perfect control.

Thanks for your response Mr Jaywant. Unfortunately I didn't have the option to turn off category label, or to remove field name (it didn't allow me to leave it blank in the field well). Would have been nice to have these options available

  • Hi SriSundar,

    Thankyou for the update.

As advised by danextian , the effective workaround is to set the font transparency to 100%.
