I was previously able to publish an updated version of my report over the old one fine, but after updating PowerBi Desktop when publishing an existing report to my workspace in order to update one I recieve the error 'A report has already been published with this name. Please rename your file and publish again'.

You said this happens in your personal workspace? Have you tried the same in a shared/premium workspace?
This is your chance to engage directly with the engineering team behind Fabric and Power BI. Share your experiences and shape the future.
