Basically this, as it's explained in this known issue, which should be solved, but we are still affected.
"In Power BI Desktop March 2024 and later versions, connecting to a semantic model sometimes fails with a Cannot load model error message. The failure happens when you connect to a semantic model in a different user's My workspace."
"You face this issue when you connect to a semantic model that is in a different user’s My Workspace. While trying to connect to a semantic model through Power BI Desktop, you see an error similar to: Cannot load model. We couldn't connect to your model in the Power BI Service. The dataset may have been deleted, renamed, moved, or it is possible that you don't have permission to access it. Either the database does not exist, or you do not have permissions to access it."
I can't test whether the February release has the issue as well, beacause there is no dowload link for that release in previous releases (Previous monthly updates to Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Learn).
The difference to this known issue is that I can't connect to any semantic models, whether they are in personal or shared workspace.
All help is appreciated.
Hi @Hesus ,
I'm sorry you're experiencing this type of issue. Here are some things to check with you:
Are you using the latest version of power bi desktop (Version: 2.132.1053.0), if not, please upgrade to the latest version and try again.
Does this happen to you with all semantic models.
Is this an occasional or regular occurrence and can you reproduce this situation.
If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
Best Regards,
Clara Gong

Hi, @Anonymous .
The issue was present on July release, August, now we tried rolling back to April, and it's present there as well - on multiple machines. We even have one which is on October 2023 and still has the issue.
It's happening with all semantic models, in shared and personal workspaces, and it's a regular occurence, happens every time, basically I can't edit any existing reports that use a published semantic models as data source.
Hi @Hesus ,
Can you tell me the details of your procedure? So that I can better reproduce and help you troubleshoot the problem.
Best Regards,
Clara Gong
