Cannot connect to SQL 'The target principal name is incorrect. Cannot generate SSPI context'

Hi All,

 

I am trying to connect to SQL Server on an Azure VM using Power BI desktop while connecting to the DB it throws me the error:

'The target Principle name is incorrect, cannot generate SSIP context'.

 

Please help me here to resolve this issue.

    Hi Amit_Porwal,

    After research, the error is caused by SQL Server Security rather than Power BI desktop. The KB811889 article should help you troubleshoot this issue.

    In addition, I personally suggest you post this thread to SQL Server Security Forum for more professional support.
