Hi,
I have issue conncting MySQL database with Powerbi Desktop.
The error message reads "The server was not authorized"
Please I need help, it has been over two weeks.
Regards,
Bisi.
Hi @bisigreat,
Do you get the error message “The user was not authorized” ? If that is the case, firstly, please check if you are able to connect to the database through MySQL workbench.
Secondly, if you are able to connect to database using MySQL workbench, in Power BI Desktop, go to “File –> Options and Settings –> Options –>Global(Data Load) to delete the cache and go to “File –> Options and Settings –> Data Source Settings->Global permissions” to delete the old MySQL data source connections.
Thirdly, please use same connection parameters as MySQL workbench’s in Power BI Desktop, then connect to MySQL database following the instructions in this blog, and use database authentication as other post.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
Are you using database authentication or Windows authentication? Use database authentication with MySQL.
