Hello,
I have data that refreshes nightly but is capped at a rolling 1 year from the current date. So in the early months of the year, the highest level of drill, the YEAR view, looks very poor. For example in January, since there is only 1 month that shows, which ends up just being a single dot on a line graph. Even in February it doesnt look very good, as there are only 2 data points that display.
Is there any way to change the year level of the hierarchy to be 12 months rolling date? So for example if it updated yesterday, 2/17/2025, the year level view would show:
February 2024, March 2024, April 2024............... all the way to February 2025.
I would still like to be able to drill in to the month and day in the same way you can with the default date hierarchy.
I appreciate any insight provided.
Thanks!

Click that 4th icon that looks like a hierarchy/tree. That should expand the axis to show year, month then day.

Hi! You can use the relative date filter (just put your date in filter pane and change teh type to relative date) and say is in the last X number of months, that way your visuals show whatever time period you want 🙂

That doesn't change the date hierarchy at all though right? That would only limit the available data that you can see. It doesn't cause it to show a rolling 12 months when using a date hierarchy on the X axis of a visual.
I have:
This shows:
Even though there is 12 months of data available, because it is drilled down to 1 specific year. I would like to see 1 rolling year and drill in to that, rather than 1 calendar year.

Well that will do it thank you. I will have to instruct users to start using that instead as it doesn't seem to coincide with the normal drilling in and out of the hierarchy with the buttons to the left.
Thanks!
I use the first and fourth icons the most. The third one doesn't maintain the hierarchy.
