Hi,
In Qlik Sense, if I select a row (cell), it automatically filter on the selection of row (or cell). It works just like a slicer. Can this be achievable in Power BI?
I am still new to PB, and so far have found I have to create a lot of slicers for user to filter the data. Would be great if every visuals can work like a slicer.
Thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
#1 - if the column used in the slicer is coming from the same table from which the bar chart column is used, then yes.
#2 - no, but with drill though you can, or slicers can be synced between pages and any value selected on one slicer will filter other pages (if sync is used)

@spagad6263 are they from the same table?

@spagad6263 Hmmm I see your point on #2 but compared to other BI tools, Power BI is pretty young and all the core visuals are pretty much the same as from day one (ofcourse lots get added with many updates). However, the PBI core visuals team is rebuilding the visuals ground up and assumes it will be much better in terms of functionality and flexibility.
Also, this is what I will do, if there is a feature that is not available, rather than ranting about it, I will add this as an idea on the ideas forum and then try to get votes for the idea. It will do two things, 1) will get to know how important the feature is, more votes, more people want that feature, and 2) more votes, it will get prioritized (hopefully).

Hi,
I tried the suggestion and hope when I click the table on right (highlighted), I could see the slicer (left) been selected. However, it didn't work, even though I've set the "filter" under "Edit interactions". Am I missing something? Thanks

Thank you so much for the info.
#1 - if the column used in the slicer is coming from the same table from which the bar chart column is used, then yes. - I will need to try and confirm.
#2 - no, but with drill though you can, or slicers can be synced between pages and any value selected on one slicer will filter other pages (if sync is used) - this is a real shame that PB can't behaviour like other BI tools, which causes a lot confusion to end-users.

Thanks for the reply.
I can use Format >> Edit Interactions to set either Filter or Highlight on other visual.
2 More questions
1. Can the same behaviour apply to slicers? I would like to see the slicer will also change to the relevant items which are related to what I've selected. For example, when I select 'Windscreen' in the right barchart, I would like to see the slicer will narrow down to items associated with Windscreen
2. I have 2 pages in this PB file. Can I filter out visuals on the other page?
Thanks for your quick reply. I am ok with slicers to cross between different pages.
The question is about TABLE >> ROW >> Cells. Can the selection on table >> Rows >> Cells can work like slicer?
Thanks
@spagad6263 Yes, this is how Power BI works. You can set it as cross filter or cross highlight, read more here Change how visuals interact in a report - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
