When I try uninstalling it through the Add or Remove Programs feature, after a few clicks, it instantly brings me to the "You have successfully completed the Microsoft Power BI Desktop (x64) Setup Wizard.", and I know it didn't go correctly because it came to this page instantly (also, the program remains in the list of programs):
Of note is the fact that I still had this problem after uninstalling it with the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall software that's meant to be used to help in cases like these.
When I try to install it through the installer downloaded from the Power BI site, it doesn't go correctly either, since it prompts me with "Are you sure you want to cancel Microsoft Power BI Desktop (x64) installation?" right after I click 'Next' on the first screen, at which point it freezes and I can only close it with task manager:
The error I found in the install log was this:
[22E0:15F4][2020-03-21T21:27:21]w055: Could not load or read state file: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{31b4f2bc-84f3-44f3-8f98-2233ad586718}\\state.rsm, error: 0x80070003.
Any help would be much appreciated, as this has completely killed my ability to do any work....
If it helps, I can actually download and install/uninstall any 32 bit version of Power BI just fine, but that isn't an option as our connectors are all 64 bit. I don't think this is related to permissions as I'm on an admin account in my EC2 instance.
Hello @rainynights, could you solve it? I'm having the same problem. When you try to install the program, that poster appears.
Best regards!
Hi @rainynights ,
It looks like the file 'state.rsm' is missing, please check whether this state file exists. As you are the admin account, you can then ran the setup file as administrator.
If cannot found the state file, you can try to download the lateset version of power bi desktiop:

Hi @amitchandak , it is actually.
I previously had a 64 bit version of Power BI Desktop already installed, but it was upon trying to install an updated version that all this mess started happening!
