Can't Resize Column Width in a Table Visual
- 3 months ago
Hi CuriousGeoSqPBI ,
Hidden characters in Excel are probably not the main issue here.
In Power BI table visuals, some columns can appear stuck because the visual still enforces a minimum width based on the longest header or value, even when Auto-size width is disabled.
Try temporarily enabling Word wrap for both headers and values, resize the column and then turn wrap back off. Also check for unusually long text values or long column names, as they can force a minimum width.
If the issue persists, it could be related to a recent Power BI Desktop rendering/layout behavior rather than the source data.

Sometimes Power BI confines resizing due to internal layout restrictions.
Fix:
- Remove the column from the table visual
- Re-add it and try resizing once again.
Or duplicate the visual and test resizing there.
Or you can resize it manually through cursor help bt drag and drop, screen shot attached below.
