Can't Install/Uninstall Power BI via download

As of recently I can no longer install (or unstall for that matter) Power BI Desktop.

 

From log file:

[3DAC:519C][2021-09-07T14:55:35]e000: Error 0x80131902: Failed to create the managed bootstrapper application.
[3DAC:519C][2021-09-07T14:55:35]e000: Error 0x80131902: Failed to create UX.
[3DAC:519C][2021-09-07T14:55:35]e000: Error 0x80131902: Failed to load UX.
[3DAC:519C][2021-09-07T14:55:35]e000: Error 0x80131902: Failed while running

. . .

  • I've fixed/updated .NET and updated video card driver. I can install other programs no problem, including visual studio, but also can't install PBI Gateway (same errors as above).
  • There are two Power BI Desktops in my programs/apps list for some reason, neither of which I can uninstall:
    • 1) Installed on 7/23/2021, Version 2.94.921.0
    • 2) Installed on 8/10/2021, Version 2.95.983.0
  • On 7/23/2021 I installed Windows 10, version 20H2 also (date 1 above may be this date not the actual install of that PBI desktop version), uninstalled 20H2 after PBI installation began not working
  • I have never installed the Windows Store version, but only ever install from Download Center (can't use Store version as we use Oracle DB)

Yes, it is recommended that you first check whether there are loopholes in the window system, and fix them, and try to download and use forced uninstall software to uninstall the original pbi version.

Unfortunately I can't uninstall, same error shows up in logs when I try to uninstall. Seems this is a Windows issue more than a Power BI Desktop issue.

You can download Power BI desktop via this link:Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center

And you can see that there are actually no special requirements for downloading the desktop version.

I think what you need to do is uninstall the previous version cleanly, then try to download again.(Can you check whether your win10 system is installed correctly and whether there are loopholes? and try to uninstall the previous version with a forced uninstall software)
