Can field parameters change which values to graph?

I have PBI Desktop v March 2023.

I have been watching videos on using field parameters and made a field parameter. My intention is for the user to change the VALUE of what they want to graph, but I have not been able to get it to work yet. The values the user can graph are: overtime hours, double time hours, normal hours, which are all numbers. I would like them to pick one or more of these from a slicer.

Here is a table of values. My Field Parameter is called "ParamHoursType". This is the settings for a Matrix.

The slicers on the left side of the report tab are for the Fiscal Year and the ParamHoursType. Like this.

No matter which ParamHoursType I choose, no numbers appear in the matrix at all, even when I choose all the Double Time Hrs, Hours Total, and Overtime Hours.

I have another tab with a line graph. The Field Parameter does not graph anything there either.

So do the field parameters work to graph different values? Or do they only work with categories (string fields)?

EDIT: If Field Parameters cannot do this, is there a way for the user to choose which value to graph? I want to graph, or show in a table, one of: overtime hours, normal hours, doubletime hours.

Thank you!

Hi @croberts21  - each choice in the field parameter should reference a measure that returns the value you want to see.

Thank you. So the choice has to be a measure, not a created column or column from the query SQL statement?

The field parameter documentation covers some of the restrictions, I'd check there for more details.
