Can Power BI do this? [Insert ticker symbol & data returned]
There currently isn't a visual (at least to my knowledge) that would act as a text box input filter. However as fhill said, you could create a table of ticker symbols and provide a filter for users to scroll through. OR... you could download the Smart Filter by OKViz. This custom visual allows you to have a dataset with values to select from the drop-down or the user could type into the area above the drop-down to search that value. See screenshot below for example.
