I am using the lasso button to select some points on a map visual in power bi. I would like the lasso button border to be shown and retained once I select something on map so that we know the portion selected while presenting it to leadership. Is this possible?
Hi @Dhiraj_Burli ,
Based on the information you have provided, Power BI's lasso selection feature is currently designed to select multiple data points within a visual object for cross filtering and highlighting. Once selected, the lasso border itself will no longer be visible as an indicator of the selected area.
However, understanding the importance of visually indicating the selected area during a presentation, I can suggest several methods that may help achieve a similar result:
1. You could create a bookmark to capture the state of the report page, including selections made using the lasso tool. While this does not preserve the lasso border, it allows you to quickly navigate to a view that highlights a specific data point. See this document for more detailed information :

2. Consider using custom visual objects or annotations to manually draw attention to the selected area. This may involve adding shapes or text boxes to highlight areas of interest. Although this method requires manual setup, it can be effective for presentation purposes.
3. Since retaining the lasso selection border may be beneficial to many users, please consider providing this feedback to Microsoft through the Power BI Ideas forums. Microsoft often considers user feedback for future updates.

Thanks for your response. Bookmark option might not give the desired output in this case.
The manual shape can be used for a presentation but we were looking for something that can be used while presnting a live demo.
I will post it as an idea.
Thanks.
