Calculating Year on Year and YOY%?

Hi

I am having below table 

I tried to calculate the YOY by creating a date table and connecting the date and cash date together

Used below measures

Total = SUM(table[Gross and Net Income])

YOY = CALCULATE([TOTAL], PREVIOUSYEAR(DATE['DATE)))

I am getting below result

the values are not coming properly. Can anyone advise how to address this?

@bourne2000 , You should use date table, and the year should come from date table  and date table should be marked as date table 

example

YTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESYTD('Date'[Date],"12/31"))
Last YTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESYTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Year),"12/31"))

last Year Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),previousyear('Date'[Date]))
