Calculating MTD

Hi

 

I am having a below table called "Data"

I wanted to calculate YTD and MTD for sales. My data has both 2022 and 2023 data. I created date table and connect with the above table

I used below measure to calculate MTD but no success

 

MTD = TOTALMTD(SUM(Data[Sales]), 'Date'[Date])

The above MTD calculation is incorrect, it just printing the same value and not adding.

Can anyone advise what is wrong with my DAX?

I'm wondering why so many beginners opt for such a meaningless, huge calendar date.

Thanks to the great efforts by MS engineers to simplify syntax of DAX! Most beginners are SUCCESSFULLY MISLED to think that they could easily master DAX; but it turns out that the intricacy of the most frequently used RANKX() is still way beyond their comprehension!

DAX is simple, but NOT EASY!
