Calculated column type mismatching in MS List automatic report

Dear All,

When I use "Integrate --> Power BI" feature in MS List web App, the type of a calculated column of the report, don't match the ones of the columns used in the formula. I've shared this problem with the MS List community, but they have confirmed it and don't have a solution. They have suggested me to talk about this issue in the Power BI community. Is There someone can help me?

Thanks for your Help

Hi @Anonymous,

I've used both formulas below, with the same result

=SUM([Column 1];[Column 2];[Column 3])

=[Column 1]+[Column 2]+[Column 3]

The field is calculated in MS List, when I create the report with List web app feature, I obtain a simple column, but with a wrong data type

HI @Malo,

What data type of fields of the calculated fields? Did this issue only appear when you use the 'Integrate to power bi' features?

If that is the case, you can try to get data and design the report on power bi desktop side, then publish to power is service side. It allows you to do operations on data models or shaping data structures.

Hi @Anonymous,

Data type is numeric, and it's happened when I've used both integration with MS List and Power BI desktop.

I've already solved the problem in Power BI desktop using the edit query tool, but in my case would be more useful access the report directly from MS List.

Hi @Malo,

You can also consider contacting to power bi team to report this 'data type' recognize issues about the data process and transform operations between MS list and power bi.
