Calculated Measure - Average Days

Hi, 

 

I have created the following measure which gives me the number of days between 2 dates.

 

Days_to_comp =

Datediff(

Selectedvalue('apps'[appdate]),

Selectedvalue('comp'[compdate]),

Day)

 

That seems to work as I'd expect. However, I now want to create another measure that calculates the average, I have tried this, but doesn't work

 

Average_days_to_comp =

Average (days_to_comp)

 

Any idea how to resolve, please? Is my original measure incorrect and the reason it won't work?

    Hi M_SBS_6 ,

     

    According to your description, for the AVERAGE function, its argument is passed a specific column name, while this formula returns a scalar result. So this is the cause of the error.

    1 =
DATEDIFF (
    SELECTEDVALUE ( 'apps'[appdate] ),
    SELECTEDVALUE ( 'comp'[compdate] ),
    DAY
)

    M_SBS_6 , A new measure , You need a common table for level of details/ group by

     

    AverageX(values(Dim[Column1]), calculate(

    Datediff(

    Selectedvalue('apps'[appdate]),

    Selectedvalue('comp'[compdate]),

    Day) ) )
