I've got a column of dates where an inspection is due. I used the "duration" function to create a new column to termine by how many days the inspection is due.
The resulting calculated column has a has a data type of 123-ABC. So I change it to duration because I need to do some conditional formatting, but when i change it to duration and press close and apply, half my visualizations (that do not rely on that column at all) go blank. They're going blank, I suspect, because of another table- the fact table- that is on the one side of a 1-many relationship (with some other tables in between). It has gone blank for whatever reason, which I feel like is a separate problem which I'll be posting about, but does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to turn my difference of days into a whole number, decimal number, or duration?
ie.
Thanks.

Thanks, yes I could do it, but then when I closed and applied, it made half my visualizations dissappear, which was weird because that column had nothing to do with those tables.
Although I think I may have solved it by just making a calculated table in the Table view using DATEDIFF. I think this will work.
Hi @bonjourposte,
Not sure why you would not be able to change the data type for your duration column. I can easily do this:
starting with this column:
when I select Duration > Total Days I get decimal number data type
What's the data type in the M code for that step on your end?
