CRTL Key not filter multiple visuals

The CRTL key should allow you to click a filter in one visual and further refine by clicking another visual. For instance if I have table of task due by john and status in other visual, I should be able to click on John and "started" to show the list of task that John has started. 

However when I do this it resets the filter to only the last thing you clicked on, show it would show all the started items not just John.

That (@25+secs) is what I am trying to do, but the ctrl does not do this. 

Is there something I need to enable to do this?
