    Hi mroberts_troy,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. Thank you amitchandak, for your inputs on this issue and it is right. Here are some alternative solutions. Kindly review the steps below:

This is a known issue in some Power BI versions (especially with newer Button visuals and slicers).

Verify the Type of Visual: If it is a Button used as a slicer (not the standard slicer visual), label formatting behaves differently. Label colours on buttons may be controlled through "State formatting" instead.

Use "Button States" Settings: To correctly format button label colours, select the Button visual. In the Visual formatting pane, go to Style > Button Text or Button > States, depending on the version. Expand "Default", "On hover", "On press", or similar states.

Set the Font colour under each state: This often overrides the label colour set under "Label". For example, if the Default state font colour is white and the background is also light, it may appear invisible or unchanged.

Check for Conditional Formatting Conflicts: If conditional formatting (fx) has been applied earlier, the system may prioritize it over manual changes. Remove any applied conditional formatting by clicking the fx button next to the colour and selecting "None" or clearing the rules.

Reset the Label Style Temporarily: As a workaround, turn the label off and back on again, or turn off the Label toggle, save the report, reopen it, and turn the Label back on. Then reapply the colour formatting.

Update Power BI Desktop: Ensure you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Button behaviour and formatting options have changed over recent updates.
