Building a Circle visual (not a KPI one) with colour conditional formatting
In that case you can try this alternative method :
1. Create new measure 'Full Circle Measure'DAX Full Circle = 1
2. Add a Donut chart visual to your report canvas & Drag your new Full Circle measure into the Values field of the donut chart. It will now display a solid, complete circle.
3. Slices: Change the color to the shade of green you want.Spacing: Adjust the Inner radius to create the hollow circle effect. A value around 80-90% works well.
Turn off unnecessary elements: Disable the Title, Legend, and Detail labels as you won't need them.
4. Insert a Card KPI in the centre of donutFormat the Card:
Turn off the Category label.
Adjust the font size and color of the Callout value.
Under General -> Effects, turn the Background off to make it transparent.

Yes I did try one of these - the only issue is, my boss would like the figures to sit within a green circle no matter what the % is. With this visual I found that if the % of stock going off (as an example) was 15%, then only 15% of the visual was highlighted in green, which makes the visual look like a bad/under performing metric, whereas actually, for this particular one - the lower % of stock going off the better!
Ideally, she wanted the visual to be Green if it was on or above target and red for any that were falling under target - which I thought I had cracked with the Circle KPI Gauge (the first 2 I tried were at 99ish %) but then when I did the same for the metric for which 'lower is better', the gauge looked like this:
So I think based on my (lack of) ability in powerbi, I may have to manage expectations of my boss of not having conditional formatting on the circle and just sticking with the fix sent by GrowthNatives - unless there are any other ways anyone can think off 🙂
