Bug: New Tables Loading Really Far Away in Model View
Every time I add a table to my model it loads really far away from the other tables. Every new table loads further away than the one before. Eventually it takes like 20 minutes to get it next to the others it's so far away. I can get around it by making a new layout every time I make a new table. But I'm sick of rearranging my tables in model view every time I add a new one.
Hi ferdilda. As the model grows, new tables are automatically placed very far from the existing ones, often further away each time. There is currently no setting to stop this behaviour.
The only practical solutions are workarounds. Using Fit to page or Fit to screen can temporarily recentre the canvas, while Reset layout fixes the distance issue but removes your custom layout. To keep your layout, selecting all tables and dragging them back towards the centre often reduces the problem. Using multiple model layouts for different table groups can also limit the impact. There is actually an auto-layout option in the diagram/relationship view. The downside though is it auto-lays out everything.

Known bug. New tables drop further out each time.
Quick fix: hit "Zoom to fit" (bottom right) or right-click empty space and reset the layout, then drag the table in. Or use separate layout tabs (the + at the bottom) so new tables only land on the All Tables view and never touch your custom ones.
Usually clears after a Desktop update, so update to the latest version.

As far as I know, Desktop doesn’t let you control where new tables appear.
Model view just follows its own auto‑layout, and bigger models tend to push new tables farther out.
It’s been like this for years and isn’t listed as a bug. I just use Fit to screen to pull the canvas back. - v-menakakota
