Bridge Table not allowing for columns from the two source tables to be on the same table visual

I have two tables - one that contains material data and one that contains purchase order data. Part of the material data are the classifications showing approved vendors. To create the bridge table I have a columns in both tables that combine the material number and the vendor number, e.g. 12349876 with 1234 being the material number and the 9876 being the vendor number. This is the material_vendor_key.

I link both tables to the bridge table with the cross-filter direction being "Both" for each table. When I try to combine the data into one visual (specifically a table visual) I receive this error: "Can't determine relationships between these fields".

However, I can filter each data set if I add columns from each table to separate visuals and click on an item or by adding any column to a slicer and filtering that way. It's only when I try to add them to a single visual were the interaction fails.

Material data on the right and PO data on the left. Material data item has been selected and is filtering PO data table:

I have similar setups in other reports, so I am not sure why the relationships are not working in this report.
