BookMark, Slider Date and Gateway Problem!
Hi tmorais,
Thank you for the detailed description — this is indeed a frustrating behavior that several users have reported since recent Power BI Desktop updates.
The issue is that Bookmarks capture the state of all visuals by default, including the date slider position. When a bookmark is applied to clear filters, it also resets the slider to the position it was in when the bookmark was saved.
Here are some workarounds:
1. Uncheck "Data" in the Bookmark: When editing your bookmark (View → Bookmarks → right-click → Edit), uncheck the Data option so that the bookmark only captures visual/display settings and not the filter state of the slicer.
2. Use a "Relative Date" slicer: Instead of a fixed date range slider, switch to a Relative date slicer (e.g., "Last 30 days" or "This month"). This type of slicer always evaluates relative to today and is not affected by bookmarks or gateway refresh timing.
3. Reset slicer button: Add a "Reset" button linked to a bookmark that has the slicer set to its maximum range, so users can easily restore the default view.
Regarding automatic update to the latest date: Power BI does not natively support dynamic slicer default values. I would recommend voting for this feature on the Fabric Ideas board.
Hope this helps!
