Beginner issue: Can't connect PowerBI to Synapse, SSMS can from same machine

Hi,

Followed an example from the Synapse page and loaded the NY Taxi dataset. Wanted to have a look at it in PowerBI. IP is allowed to connect since SQL Management Studio can connect OK. Use the same credentials in PowerBI and get an "Couldn't authenticate error"

Copied the servername and login from the SSMS screen, username is correct.

Am I overlooking something simple?

Yes, also tried different combinations of Import/DirectQuery and providing a database or not

Are you using the latest version(2.81.5831.821) of Power BI Desktop? If no, please install the latest one.

Then please remove the current permissions and re-connect the data source to have a try.

I am indeed on the latest version. Because I have not been able to add that datasource yet, I don't think I can get to that screen/setting?
