Basic functionality: Reference Lines in Bar Chart per category
Dear community,
I'm unable to create a bar chart that is spilt by categories (i.e. countries) where actuals are represented in the bars, and the target is represented as a reference line in each bar / category. Power BI is ignoring the categories / bars and adding one reference line only for all categories. Basic stuff.
Thanks for your help
Carlos

Hi carlos_viz - Using the Line and Clustered Column Chart is often the most straightforward approach as it naturally aligns with how Power BI handles different data series.you'll need to use the "Analytics" pane to add reference lines that are specific to each category.
select the Clustered Column Chart (for your actuals).Drag your "Actual" measure/column to the Values field.Drag the category (e.g., "Country") to the Axis field.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer. I typically use the columns when representing a time dimension, however, for other data attributes such a product category, region, etc. bar charts are for several reasons stronger in my point of view.
It seems a little strange that same charts - just transponsed - have different functionalities available.
Thanks again for taking the time.
