Hi,
Each of the these bars comes from different numeric columns on one table and they are in the "y-axis" - displaying sum of values in teh column. I'd like them to be spaced out rather jammed together, and for the legend headings to show under each bar. Any help appreciated.

According to my tests, the "Legand" of a bar chart can only be set by default support and cannot be scattered below each bar chart,like this:
For Legand, the main role of this field is to group, you can't split it, if you need to split the display, you can try to put the field into X-axis to achieve.
