Azure Maps: ability to reset zoom level

I have an Azure map at the census tract level, data has to be displayed as a reference layer. Auto-zoom is turned off as desired behavior is to NOT reset the map when slicers change. This works great...

    Hi skrape ,

This is a known limitation of the Azure Maps visual in Power BI. When Auto Zoom is turned OFF, Power BI preserves the map state (zoom + position) even if:

    • You navigate to another page and return

    • You toggle visibility

    • You apply bookmarks

Because the map viewport state is cached in the visual session, bookmarks typically do not reset the zoom level.

You can try the below workaround to achive the same -
    Bookmark + Reset Button

Although bookmarks don't always reset zoom directly, you can try this reliable setup.

    Steps

    1. Set the map to your desired default zoom and position.

    2. Open Bookmarks Pane.

    3. Create a bookmark called Reset Map.

    4. In bookmark settings:

      • Turn Data = ON

      • Turn Display = ON

    5. Add a Reset Button and assign the bookmark.
