My organisation operates on academic years and academic weeks.
The start of an academic year occurs in august and ends in July.
Example - academic year 2024/25 will start first week of August 2024 = Week 1.
The business want to see a visualisation comparing three years worth of cumulative sales data for each academic year by Term. The graph should show the first academic week of sales for each year up to the current academic week number. They want to see this data in a line chart.
The problem is sales for one academic year can start before the academic year begins and we can see returns and sometime sales figures after the academic year ends.
Example for year 2023-2024 sales start to come in week 16 of the previous academic year 2022-23 as we publish our courses earlier for enrolments. Meaning week 16 for academic year 2023-24 will occur again once the year actually starts.
Given we have 52/53 weeks in a year this means to put this data in a cumulative line graph for three year will show a overlap for each week.
I have attached a link to a sheet with data for 3 academic years. and below is a chart to show somewhat of the desire outcome, what is not shown on the chart is the axis showing the re-occurring week numbers which is needed.
