Automatic update report in Sharepoint - possible?
Hi all,
Can we post report onto Sharepoint and have the report being automatically updated from SQL server database just like if we post the report to Power BI service?
Thanks!
Hey Helpful_Fun4848 ,
please be aware that the report is not posted to SharePoint. From inside the Power BI service you create the link to the report. Technically the report (meaning the dataset) inside the Power BI Service will be refreshed, as the SharePoint site "only" contains a link to the report, it will always show the current data of the Power BI dataset.
Hopefully, this provides what you are looking for.
Regards,
Tom

Hey Helpful_Fun4848 ,
basically, you can't publish a report to SharePoint, except for storing a pbix file inside a SharePoint library, but this is about storing a file.
But maybe, this article describes what you are looking for: Embed a report web part in SharePoint Online - Power BI | Microsoft Docs.
Please be aware, that every user who has to access the report, has be licensed, either by a Power BI Pro license or the link is from an app, that is backed by a Premium capacity.

Tom

I was reading the same article, but, it doesn't say anthing as to whether the report that is being post to Sharepoint can have an automated schedule dataset update/refresh. Any chance you know the answer?
