Automate Export of Power BI Table with Power BI API
Hi Power BI Desktop Forum
I'm looking to automate the export of a table from a Power BI Report using the Power BI API and was hoping you might be able to assist?
To note, I have a Power BI Premium license
I have a table on a page within a Power BI report.
There are filters on the page which change the table contents depending on what's selected.
Currently I'm manually selecting the required filters, Exporting the Data using the table drop down menu and then saving the report to a Sharepoint folder.
Can this manual process (selecting required report filters, exporting the data, then saving to a Sharepoint folder) be automated and scheduled to run on specific dates/days using the Power BI API?
Thanks in advance

Hi JonPT ,
Thanks for the reply from danextian .
You can call the Export To File API in Power Automate to automate the export of tables from Power BI reports and save them to a SharePoint folder.
First, you need to ensure that you have at least one workspace in your Power BI tenant that is supported by dedicated capacity. This capacity can be any of the A, EM, or P SKUs of a Power BI report, or the A4/P1 - A6/P3 SKUs of a paged report. You also need to have a Power Automate subscription that provides access to the standard connectors.
After you create a trigger action for a process. you can select the action to run. To select a new export operation, search for Power BI and you will see the new operations listed.
You can refer to the documentation below for information:

Hi JonPT
You can do this by running a query against a Power BI dataset in Power Automate. You can use the same DAX query generated when running Performance Analyzer. Check this out - https://youtu.be/G47_IWkhUQg?si=1-IZzM9fG7NoNQxY

What I know is you can automate exporting via Power BI REST API with Power Automate. I've personally haven't done that myself as an HTTP request requires a premium connector.
