Auto refresh for service dataset

I have published a "Master" data set from Power BI desktop to a workspace. I intend to use this master published dataset as a data source for other pbix files, to reuse the same data models. When scheduling auto refresh, do I only need to schedule refresh only on the "Master" dataset or is it necessary to schedule refresh on every dataset that is using "Master" as its data source?
  • Hi Anonymous,

Just to make sure I understand..
    1. Create a "Master" pbix dataset and publish to a workspace
    2. Create pbix1 and publish to the same workspace
    3. Configure auto refresh only on "Master" dataset. No need to configure auto refresh on pbix1?

The quick answer is yes. As pbix1 uses a shared dataset of "Master", no new dataset will be created, they're just using a single shared dataset. :smileyhappy:
