Assume referential integrity grayed out

I have a Direct Query model and need to set a relationship with the Assume referential integrity checkbox.   The box is grayed out and unselectable.  I don't have any nulls in the data.  Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?

Hi @pokdbz ,

Please check if the following 2 requirements for Assume referential integrity has been meet to make it work properly:

  • Data in the From column in the relationship is never Null or blank
  • For each value in the From column, there is a corresponding value in the To column

You can check this documentaion for the full details.

Best Regards

@v-yiruan-msft

I've verified for nulls and each value on the fact table has a corresponding value in the dimension.

I've also tried deleting the relationship and adding it back in and it still has a problem.

Hi @pokdbz ,

It seems OK. Then could you please provide your sample PBIX file in order to make troubleshooting?

Best Regards

I don't believe you can do that in a Direct Query model. I may be mistaken.
