Assigning roles to users in Desktop
I have created some roles in Power Bi Desktop, everything seems to work fine in the Power Bi Desktop version (tested using View As Roles for each).
However, I am havng issues with assigning roles to users - such as someone's login.
I have previously done this via Power Bi Service (by going under data sets -> security); however, when I went there the message that appears states
"RLS has moved to Power Bi Desktop"
How do I assign roles to users in Power Bi Desktop, guessing this was a recent change???

If you have correctly created RLS in desktop, you would see below screenshot on service (by going under data sets -> security).
However, if there isn't any role being created, you would see below screenshot. So, please make sure you selected the right dataset name when trying to assign roles to members.
Additionally, if you previously had roles and rules defined within the Power BI service, you will need to recreate the roles and rules within Power BI Desktop and then publish to the Power BI service. Please see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-rls#limitations

Also note that I've had a bit of a look around on Power Bi help online, the answer presently there says this;
You cannot assign users to a role within Power BI Desktop. This is done within the Power BI service.
